Description

Tomato puree on its own is too strong and thick to use in BIR cooking, conversely tinned tomatoes are a little too weak and not also suited as they don’t cook down quickly enough. When tomato paste is called for in a BIR recipe it is usually a cooked combination of both tomato puree and tinned tomatoes, this gives a great tasting tomato base to curries and speeds up the cooking process. Our BIR tomato paste does just that and is perfect for any aspiring BIR chef.

Storage instructions

Unopened Pouch

Store in a cool, dark, and dry cupboard away from sunlight. The pouch will last until the best before date, usually 6 to 12 months.

Unopened pouches can also be frozen for up to 12 months.

Do not use if the pouch is bloated or leaking.

After Opening

Refrigerate and consume within 3 days.

Unused paste can also be frozen for up to 3 months, portion the paste into smaller amounts for convenience before freezing.

Quick and easy

I like to use the Tomato paste it’s quick and easy saves having to make a batch but I like to add tomato purée to give it an extra boost plus add a little extra garlic.

Great Paste

Although I can make this paste myself, having it available in the cupboard in a handy pouch makes life very easy. Not only does it make the dish I'm cooking to BIR quality, but I can also freeze any leftover paste in ice cube trays, meaning no waste. I love the paste and the dishes it is added to. Since receiving my first order and book, I have not had an Indian Takeaway, but I have had many BIR home-cooked curries!
